I'm in Blog Withdrawal.
I feel like I haven't blogged in so long! Anyway, this weekend, the Hogs played North Texas and killed them 66 to 7. It was great. I told my friends that if we were up 50 to 0 at halftime, we could leave. The score was 45 to 7. We left after the band played. They did so much better. Pregame, not so much. My vote is to re-institute pregame to all its previous glory! The halftime show was dedicated to Dr. Eldon Janzen, who directed the band until 1994. They did one of his favorite shows, and I must say, although we had played one of the songs in my tenure in band, it was ten times better than last week. I even got a great shot of the Go Hogs spell out with my phone!

Do you remember?
In the light of the bad times the Hogs are suffering now, let's relive some of the glory days. I can remember vividly watching the 1994 NCAA Basketball Championship. I was a senior in high school, about to graduate, and headed to the University of Arkansas in the fall. I remember sitting with my hands over my eyes because I couldn't stand to watch what would happen. Too bad we don't have any of these guys playing for us again!

Smells Like New Car...
I started my new job today. It's not the Walton College, but I really like the people I work with. Linda, my supervisor, is sweet as can be. Virginia, the accountant, fits the accountant mold to a tee. And Dr. Verma, the department head, is super nice and extremely busy.
I didn't have to do to much today. But I did notice the way people turned up their noses when they found out I used to work in the Walton College. Apparently, anyone who works in the WCOB is rich and wants nothing to do with the rest of the University community. At least that was the feeling I received from some of the people I spoke with. Wow, I never realized the hatred went that deep. Anyway, I am getting a new computer that is being specially order for me, with two monitors and cordless everything! I even got to choose what software I wanted on it. Cool!

I Am Not A Happy Camper
The Hogs played Kentucky today in the beautiful city of Fayetteville. Well, we played three and a half quarters. The Hogs lost miserably. We had led the entire game, and then basically handed the game to Kentucky in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter. I have been an avid supporter of Houston Nutt in the past, but those days are over. There is no reason for us to have put up that many yards of offense and loose. NO REASON! Check out more stats on the game here.
I really hate to say it, but I think Nutt's days as head coach are numbered, especially with a new athletic director stepping onto the scene. Here are a couple of Hog Blogs I read. Check them out if you get a chance.

And then to top it off, the band sucked. I have never heard worse playing on the field from a college marching band. Pathetic. And if Mr. Gunter doesn't do something about the debacle pre-game has become, the band will loose a lot of its future supporters. I know, breathe, it's just band, right?

I HAVE A JOB!
So it's not a teaching job and it really isn't exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I am now employed, making money, and covered by insurance! YEAH!
I am now the Administrative Secretary for the Biological and Agricultural Sciences Department for the College of Engineering and the Bumpers College. Check out what they do here. I know I have some research to do since I have no idea what this program entails. Hopefully they'll understand a blonde moment or two.

Pet Peeve Update
So, here's the list so far:
1. Butt Heat
2. Underwear showing
3. Excessive/Unnecessary Speeding
4. Not using a turn signal
For the previous posts on these topics click here and here.
And, here's the newest addition:
5. Unwanted We-Podding
What is this you may ask? It's playing music so loud on your personal music player (i.e. iPod, MP3 player, etc.) that, although lodged into your ears, everyone around you can hear perfectly what you are listening to through your impossibly tiny ear buds. There's just no reason for your music to be that loud. If YOU can't hear it, I'm sure Beltone would be happy to schedule an appointment for your hearing check. TURN IT DOWN!
Although, after reading the top 10 signs of hearing loss and realizing I fall into a couple of those categories, maybe I should take my own advice...
